Workspace vs User-Level Memory
Your Memories live in two scopes. Workspace Memory is shared — every member of the workspace reads from it in their chats. User-Level Memory is yours — only you see it, and it follows you into your other workspaces.
The default is Workspace. When you type a memory in or the Chief of Staff saves something from a conversation, it lands in Workspace Memory unless you've turned on User-Level Memories and chosen otherwise.
What it does for you
Workspace Memory — shared knowledge:
- Every member's chats read from these memories
- Perfect for company info — pricing, brand voice, ICP, hard rules
- New teammates ramp up faster — they inherit everything the workspace has taught the Chief of Staff
User-Level Memory — yours alone:
- Only visible to you, and it travels with you to your other workspaces
- Good for your own preferences and works-in-progress
- Off by default — turn on User-Level Memories under Advanced on the Memories page to start using it
Moving a memory between scopes:
- On any memory you added, use Move to Workspace Memory or Move to User-Level Memory
- You can also select several memories and move them together
- Only the person who added a memory can move, edit, or forget it
How you use it
- Open Chief of Staff → Manage → Memories.
- Type a memory into the Type it in card and hit Save to Memories — it saves to Workspace Memory.
- Want a private layer? Open Advanced on the same page and switch on User-Level Memories. A Save to choice appears so you can pick Workspace or User-Level per memory, and a scope filter appears above the list.
- To move an existing memory, find it under What it knows and choose Move to Workspace Memory or Move to User-Level Memory.
