What is a Routine
A Routine is two things glued together: a time and a job. Pick when, describe what — your Chief of Staff runs it on its own from then on.
It's the difference between asking once and getting it every day forever.
What it does for you
Two simple pieces:
- When — one-time, daily, weekly, monthly, or every 30 minutes
- What — the job to do, in plain English
Every routine runs as your Chief of Staff; the only knob beyond the schedule is which AI model it uses.
Quietly working in the background:
- Runs without you opening the app
- Output lands as a card on the Chief of Staff Actions page (Routine Runs tab) and in your dashboard feed
- Errors surface so you know what happened and why
Always under your control:
- Pause anytime — it stops, no work runs; resume and it picks up on the next scheduled time
- Run Now fires it off without waiting for the schedule
- A scheduled one-time routine shows Cancel instead of Pause, and once it has run, it's done — you can schedule it to run again if you want a repeat
- Run history shows every past run, full output, and any errors
- You can only edit routines you created — a teammate's routine is theirs
Built-in safety rails:
- Three failed runs in a row and the routine pauses itself
- A high-frequency routine that burns through its daily credit budget pauses rather than draining your balance
- Routines skip (rather than error) when your credit balance is empty
How you use it
- Open Chief of Staff → Manage → Routines.
- Hit New Routine and describe what you want and when.
- Save. Watch the Run History to see it land.
- Pause, resume, or delete anytime.
If you only do one thing today: turn one thing you do every morning into a routine. Tomorrow you won't have to do it.
